2016 Christmas Message from Bishop Print this post

Merry Christmas!

In the Gospel according to Luke, the Angel said to the shepherds: “I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a Savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord.” (Luke 2:10-11)

The city, of course, is Bethlehem, which sits at the heart of the Holy Land. This region, where the Incarnate Son of God came into the world, is also a region whose tensions and violence persist today.

For the Christians in the Holy Land, peace remains a gift for which we must pray, especially for those who are forced to live in daily fear. In this Christmas Season, let us pray for the Christians in the Holy Land as we gather with our families to celebrate the Child Jesus.

Jesus Christ is the sign given by God to those who await salvation. Christ remains forever the sign of God’s tenderness and hope in our world. Join me in praying for peace in the land where Jesus walked.

Also, in our own community, please pray for the elderly and for those who have no one to share the joy of Christmas.

May you and your family have a Blessed and Merry Christmas! And a Happy New Year!!
