Overview

Epiphany Cathedral is a parish within the Diocese of Venice in Florida, Inc.  The Music Director of Epiphany Cathedral will support all music related activities in the parish and report to the Pastor; however, also support all events from the Office of the Bishop.

The ideal candidate must be a top class professional who holds required credentials, is a musician (preferably organ and/or piano) and who has led the planning of liturgical music including Adult, Teen and Children Choirs.  The goal of this position is to develop the Music Ministry in such a way as to enhance the Liturgical experience in the Cathedral that sets the standard for the Diocese. 

Job Description

  • Under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Pastor, coordinates all Parish liturgies, music and related events including daily, weekend and holy day masses
  • Works with the Diocesan Director of Liturgy on any issues regarding the Bishop
  • Manages Associate Director, Musicians, Choir Masters (for Adult and Children) and Hand bells Choir.
  • Ability to develop bi-lingual liturgies, in particular Spanish.
  • Auditions, selects and hires all paid musicians, cantors and choir members as well as volunteers
  • Hold rehearsals in preparation for Liturgies
  • Coordinates all music for religious education and other liturgical/prayer services
  • Maintains own professional competencies and continuing education and establishes contact with resources to facilitate growth and new ideas
  • Maintains organized and updated files
  • Provides accurate copyright information and coordinates financial responsibilities
  • Maintains equipment used by musicians including stands and sound system
  • Accompanies and works with liturgist for weddings and funerals (unless families choose otherwise)
  • Any other duties required by the Pastor or Bishop

Education

B.S. in Music necessary; Master’s Degree in Music desired

Excellent, keyboard and vocal skills

Other

Must be a member of the Catholic Church
