Summary: Part time parish nurse position to coordinate, oversee and maintain the parish nurse program which addresses the needs of the elderly of the parish.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Obtain/schedule speakers for monthly “Lunch and Learn” and coordinate lunch for participants.
  • Monitor/assist with “Home Alone” program for daily wellness calls to those living alone.
  • Arrange for temporary housekeeping with volunteers for “Helping Hands” to assist with light cleaning in home after illness.
  • Schedule volunteers for “Respite” services for caregivers in home.
  • Monitor “Arimatheans” to attend funerals with few family/friends in town.
  • Lead “ Clare Prayer Shawl and Lap Blanket Ministry” meeting once a month for those who quilt, knit, crochet.
  • Lead 7-week Bereavement Class in October and February.
  • Publicize Blood Mobile dates 3-4 times/year on church property.
  • Assist with referrals to community resources for finances, food, dementia programs, assisted living facilities, area group homes, Lighthouse Center for Sight, Area Office on Aging, MD specialists.
  • Visits periodically to area nursing homes and rehab facilities.
  • Home visits to homebound seniors.
  • Distribute Durable Medical Equipment (DME) donated to Nurse Program to those in need of walkers, canes, wheelchairs, shower benches, etc.
  • Monitor status of hearing aids made available for mass services.
  • Create yearly report for past and projected expenses.

Qualifications

  • RN or LPN License
  • Home health/community nursing experience
  • Solid knowledge of community health resources available in the area
  • Organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Computer literate (Word/Office/Excel)
  • Compassion
