Job Title:         Part-time Youth Outreach Coordinator St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Port Charlotte, FL


Position:          Part-Time, 10 hours/week, based on qualifications


Reports to:      Pastor/Parish Administrator and Director of Religious Education




The Part Time Youth Outreach Coordinator will plan, coordinate, and lead Youth Group meetings and other events for high school students in grades 9 through 12, in order to invigorate their faith-life and increase participation within the Catholic Church.  The Youth Outreach Coordinator will work with a team which includes the Director of Religious Education, volunteer CORE Team members/helpers/catechists, and staff assistants responsible to help with administrative tasks.


  • Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Implement Youth Ministry policies as directed by the Pastor/Parish Administrator and the DRE, including the facilitation of the Youth Ministry program in accordance with the materials and resources provided by the Parish.
  • Follow all Diocesan guidelines for youth outreach programming.
  • Plan, set-up, and lead Youth Group meetings on the days and times approved by the Pastor/Administrator (currently Sunday 4pm-9pm). Clean and lock up after meetings. 
  • Provide photos, videos, and other promotional materials for Youth Ministry activities to be used in the parish bulletin, web site, Facebook page, and other social media.
  • Attend weekly Faith Formation department meetings (currently scheduled for late afternoon).
  • Lead a group of young people to attend the annual Saturday Diocesan Youth Rally.
  • Keep in regular communication with the Diocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Outreach for guidance on best practices, upcoming events, and Diocesan policies.
  • Assist in Vacation Bible School, occasional service projects/trips, retreats, Confirmation Mass, and Confirmation Preparation.
  • Assist with the management and training of adult and teen volunteers in Youth Ministry.
  • Work toward Catechist Certification (if not already certified) and participate in Life Teen training online.  
  • Listen to the concerns of parents and students in order to bring these concerns to the DRE and Pastor/Administrator.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment, in accordance with Diocesan policies.


  • Qualifications:


  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic
  • Bachelor’s degree a plus
  • One or more years’ experience serving as a catechist or teacher in a Catholic Religious Education or Youth Ministry program.
  • Strong knowledge of Catholic teaching
  • Experience working with high school youth in some capacity, such as teaching, scouting, catechist, etc.
