October 7 ‘Journey Through Scripture’ event registration open Print this post

Staff Report – Florida Catholic

It is not too late to register to join internationally-known author and speaker, Matthew Leonard, of the St. Paul Center, for a brand new “Journey Through Scripture” event at 9 a.m., Oct. 7 at Our Lady of Light Parish, 19680 Cypress View Drive, Fort Myers.

To kick things off, Leonard (who spoke at the 2016 Diocese of Venice Men’s Conference) will present a dynamic talk illuminating the mystical marriage of Our Lady and the Holy Spirit titled “Why Mary? Penetrating the Power and Mystery of the Immaculate Conception. “

Leonard explained that it is a talk “that will totally transform the way you relate not just to Mary, but to God.” But that’s just the beginning.

The St. Paul Center has presented their “Journey Through Scripture” Bible study series in the Diocese of Venice during the past several years, providing attendees with all the training and materials to present a live Bible study in their parish or groups. Now there’s something new.

Two years ago, the St. Paul Institute filmed and released the video version of “The Bible and the Virgin Mary.” Also, on Ash Wednesday 2017 was the release of the second “Journey Through Scripture” video study titled “The Bible and the Sacraments.”

Leonard, who served as executive producer and host of both series, said the results have been staggering. “Hundreds of thousands of people in more than 180 countries have already gone through these studies in the last two years,” he continued. “It’s been amazing to read and hear the thousands of messages that have poured in telling us how much they love the studies and have been transformed by them.”

Following Leonard’s talk on Mary, attendees of the Oct. 7 “Journey Through Scripture” event will have the opportunity to view one of the lessons from “The Bible and the Sacraments” titled “Reconciled to God.” Using gorgeous sacred art and a moving score, this powerful half-hour lesson beautifully demonstrates how the sacrament of Confession leaps off the pages of both the Old and New Testaments. One participant who viewed “The Bible and the Sacraments” declared, “If non-Catholic Christians would watch this series, we would get a lot of converts!”

Since these videos are intended for both personal and group study, the event will include a presentation by Betsy Orr, a convert to Catholicism on how best to lead a study. As a Protestant, Ms. Orr led Bible studies of more than 500 people, and now she’s leading a very large and rapidly growing Catholic study in Atlanta, GA. “She’s a firecracker,” says Leonard, “who brings a lot of wisdom and practical knowledge on how to share the faith with those around you.”

The cost is $15, which includes a continental breakfast and “The Bible and the Sacraments Leader Guide” (which retails for $45).
