Ecumenism & Interfaith

The Decree on Ecumenism, Unitatis Redingegratio, and the declaration on the relationship of the Church to non-Christian religions, Nostra Aetate, are two of the key documents giving direction to this office. Accepted as policy is the purpose and functions of such a commission as set down in the Ecumenical Directory, Ad Totam Ecclesiam. The office endeavors to keep close contact with further developments from the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity, the Council for Religious Relations with the Jewish People, the Pontifical Council for Dialogue with Non-Christian Religions and the Council for Dialogue with Atheists.
