Religious Education

The Diocese of Venice in Florida promotes an approach to catechesis that is parish oriented and family sensitive. It calls us to proclaim the message of Jesus, foster community, prepare for worship, and motivates to Christian witness and service.

– Ashley Fox, Director of Religious Education

The most successful parish religious education programs are directed by fully qualified personnel. A Director of Religious Education holds a Master’s Degree in the field of Theology. A Coordinator of Religious Education holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology. An Assistant of Religious Education holds at least a Basic Certificate in Catechesis from the Diocese of Venice. Each Pastor is ultimately responsible for catechesis in the parish and hires personnel for the total Christian formation. Resumes are obtained through the Office of Religious Education.

The Office of Religious Education offers policies and guidelines for hiring catechetical personnel, celebration of sacraments, and catechetical curriculum. Events and meetings for Directors of Religious Education, Adult Faith Formation, and the RCIA are held throughout the year.
