History:
The Catholic Community Foundation of Southwest Florida was established in 2004 as an independent 501(c)(3) not for profit that is guided by its mission to financially support the spiritual, educational, and social needs of the Catholic Community in the Diocese of Venice.  The Foundation’s purpose is to work with donors in their efforts to fulfill the two great Commandments – to love God with your whole heart and to love your neighbor as yourself.

Governance:
The Foundation is an entirely independent entity, with its own by-laws, Board of Directors, and staff professionals. It functions, however, as an integral part of the Diocese of Venice by working with donors to establish endowed funds, which generate additional resources in support of Catholic Schools, Parishes, social service agencies, seminarian education and more.

Types of Funds Managed:
– Endowments
– Scholarship Funds
– Charitable Gift Annuities
– Donor Advised Funds
– Memorial Funds

Ministries Supported:
– Seminarian Education
– Catholic Elementary & High Schools
– Catholic School for Special Needs Children
– Catholic Charities
– Catholic Parishes

Stewardship of Gifts:
The Foundation has the responsibility to be a proper steward of all resources entrusted to it.  Finding a balance between fair and equitable distribution rates for beneficiary organizations and the generation of adequate rates of return on investments, is the moral and legal fiduciary responsibility of the Board of Directors.  In addition, the Foundation has a strict Socially Responsible Investment policy ensuring that investments are not made in companies whose products or services are contrary to Catholic Church teachings. The investment and payout priorities for the Foundation include:

– Preserving capital of the donors’ assets;
– Providing a sufficient return on investment that will satisfy long-term disbursement policies;
– Providing a distribution rate that is fair, aligned with national standards, & allows for preservation of the original principal.
