Having the ability to share your faith with others can be challenging. To help get over that fear the Diocese of Venice Office of Evangelization presented a program to give people the tools needed to take what they learn to spread this knowledge to their family, their Parish, and their community.

Approximately 100 people took part in the Diocesan Scripture Conference which was held Oct. 7 at Our Lady of Light Parish, in Fort Myers and featured speakers from the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology in Steubenville, Ohio, which was founded by Scott Hahn.

Matthew Leonard, from Scott Hahn’s St. Paul Biblical Center, speaks during the Diocese of Venice Scripture Conference at Our Lady of Light Parish in Fort Myers on Oct. 7.

The basis for the talk was the St. Paul Center’s popular “Journey through Scriptures” series which many parishes actively use throughout the Diocese.

St. Paul Center President & Executive Producer Matthew Leonard gave his talk “Why Mary? Penetrating the Power & Mystery of the Immaculate Conception,” explored the powerful and convincing testament to Mary’s centrality in Catholic doctrine by using salvation history.  Leonard also spoke about the mystery of Mary’s mystical marriage to the Holy Spirit through Scripture and the writings of St. Maximilian Kolbe.

“More than some sidelight, some “extra” devotion, she is an essential and pivotal player in our salvation who deserves more honor and veneration than we could ever give,” Leonard said.

There was also a presentation on the new ST. Paul Center video series, “The Bible and the Sacraments.” Finally, there was a presentation of tips on how to lead Bible study and share the faith with others.
