If after thousands of miles traveled across the 10 counties of the Diocese of Venice during the last 10 years to celebrate Masses, attend ribbon-cuttings or meet with the faithful, and you still have not heard Bishop Frank J. Dewane speak – now he can be at your kitchen table.
Thanks to the power of radio, “Witnessing Faith with Bishop Dewane” made its debut Feb. 24 on three Relevant Radio stations in Southwest Florida: 1660 AM in Naples, as well as 1410 AM and 106.7 FM in Fort Myers. Listeners will now have an opportunity get-to-know Bishop Dewane while relaxing at home, driving in a car, or even on the treadmill.
The radio show, airing at 10:30 a.m. on the last Friday of each month, will include timely topics for all seasons. Encore presentations will air the following day (Saturday) at 7:30 p.m., and then again on Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
“There are many questions about our Catholic Faith and its rich history Parishioners ask after Masses or at Diocesan events,” Bishop Dewane explained. “Hosting a 30 minute show each month provides an opportunity to explain some of the more complicated topics in greater detail, with the overall goal of bringing all closer to Our Lord.”
Relevant Radio is based in Green Bay, Wisc., with shows broadcasting on 110 radio stations in 39 states, reaching more than 133,000,000 people, confirms Father Rocky Hoffman, executive director of the growing radio giant.
“Relevant Radio is excited to be back on the air in Fort Myers and Naples, and very grateful to broadcast Bishop Dewane’s Show to nearly one million souls in Southwest Florida,” Father Hoffman said.
Branding a Catholic message to millions of the Faithful is no small or easy task, Father Hoffman added, who acknowledges the power of Florida’s weather.
“After the hurricanes of 2004 and 2005 set us back, we finally recovered and got back on the air in the summer of 2016 on WMYR 1410 AM and 106.7 FM, as well as WCNZ 1660 AM in Naples, thanks to Bishop Dewane’s gracious invitation,” said Father Hoffman.
