Foundation fund focuses on caring for migrant poor

Among its many efforts, the Catholic Community Foundation of Southwest Florida, Inc. administers the Fund for the Care of the Migrant Poor.

The exclusive purpose of the Fund is to provide annual grants to organizations and programs within the Diocese of Venice in Florida that help improve the health, education, and welfare of migrants in the Diocese of Venice in Florida.

“Contributions to the Fund are used to provide help and support to many worthwhile causes within this community,” said Michael Morse, Executive Director of the Foundation. “Recent grants awarded include funding for literacy training, affordable housing, and food distribution. Under current economic conditions and high unemployment, the need to support the community is greater than ever.”

Morse said interested individuals can support the Fund for the Care of the Migrant Poor through making a direct donation at https://ccfdioceseofvenice.org/foundation-for-the-care-of-the-migrant-poor-grant-cycle/.

In the meantime, Grant applications for support from the Fund for the Care of the Migrant Poor for projects in 2026 are now open and need to be submitted no later than April 3, 2026. To be considered by the Board of Directors for a grant, the project must clearly be seen as a service to the migrant poor or new immigrants within the Diocese of Venice in Florida. Preference will be given to those projects under Catholic auspices.
