The Diocese of Venice is mourning the loss of Rev. Hugh J. McGuigan, O.S.F.S., who passed away on Saturday evening, November 23, 2024, at the age of 71. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 31,1997, as a member of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales.
Having served in the Diocese of Venice for the last 24 years. Father McGuigan was Principal of Bishop Verot High School from July 1, 2000 to July 1, 2003, Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Light Parish in Fort Myers from July 1, 2003 to July 1, 2004, and Pastor of Our Lady of Light Parish for the last 20 years until his passing. During his priestly ministries in the Diocese, Father also served as Chaplain of the Catholic students at Florida Gulf Coast University, as a member of the College of Consuitors and Religious Representative on the Presbyteral Council.

9:00 AM to 10:45 AM Visitation
11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial
