Youth and Young Adult

The mission of the Youth & Young Adult office is to provide training, empowerment and support of parish/school youth outreach coordinators and youth ministries, and to create young adult activities through consultation and occasional direct service. The office strives to follow the guidelines presented in Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry ministering to, with, by and for young people.

Some of the programs the Youth & Young Adult Office are:

The Young Catholic Leaders Program is a religious education course for teenagers who have been confirmed and want to continue learning about their Catholic identity. Young Catholic Leaders have four gatherings throughout the year centered on being a Catholic teenager in today’s secular world. The group also meets during the month in their parish youth ministry program as well as in the deanery. Many groups will attend mass together followed by a guest speaker and refreshments. All topics will be around young Catholic identity such as spirituality, morality, prayer, sacraments, and the creed. Once each quarter all the young Catholic leaders from the four deaneries will gather and discuss their learning, attend conferences, and plan a large group event. At the end of the year, the young Catholic leaders will have a fun event such as HOLY ROLLY Olympics and a Youth Awards Banquet. Each student will be asked to have a Catholic mentor — someone who is fully initiated, participates in weekly mass, daily prayer, and service to the community.

Totus Tuus is a Catholic summer youth program dedicated to sharing the Gospel and promoting the Catholic Faith through catechesis, evangelization, Christian witness, and Eucharistic worship. The goal of Totus Tuus is to help young people grow in the understanding of and strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ by establishing a real and personal relationship with Him. Totus Tuus strives to bring our faith to life by creating a balance between knowledge of the meaning of the Sacraments and an authentic Sacramental life. Totus Tuus seeks to foster openness to vocations in the young people we serve as well as among the teachers. This is accomplished by placing special emphasis on the importance and necessity of prayer, Eucharistic and Marian devotion, in addition to catechetical instruction and formation in the Catholic Faith. Diocese of Venice Catholic Young Adults (CYA) exists to connect and support young people in their strive for holiness. Centered on building a Christ-centered life, participants are encouraged though weekly times of study, prayer, and faithful reception of the sacraments. Monthly opportunities for fostering virtuous friendships are provided through events such as Theology on Tap. A sense of community is strengthened through various special events, outings, and offerings. Young adults are sent on missions to share the good news of Jesus through regular service projects to the local community.
