40 days for Life is an international 40-day campaign that aims to end abortion locally through prayer and fasting, community outreach, and a peaceful all-day vigil in front of abortion businesses. Campaigns are held in the spring and in the fall. In the Diocese of Venice, 40 Days for Life campaigns are held in three locations: Sarasota, Fort Myers, and Naples.

Sarasota
Spring Campaign Kick-off Rally Monday, March 3, 4:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. in the parking lot of Community Pregnancy Clinic, 1419 7th Street, Sarasota. The event will honor Jeanne Berdeaux, former longtime Respect Life Director for the Diocese of Venice. Jeanne is now retired after 40 years of service to the Diocese of Venice. The Most Rev. Frank J. Dewane will attend, and the event will also feature guest speaker Shawn Carney, 40 Days for Life CEO and leader of the first-ever 40 Days for Life campaign in Texas in 2004. Note: Street parking is available on Central Avenue, Cohen Way, 7th Street, Boulevard of the Arts (6th Street, Lemon Ave.) Paid city parking lots can be found on the corner of Cohen Way and Boulevard of the Arts, and on 5th Street, 1/2 block east of Central Avenue. Please note all parking regulation signs, and please do not park in Planned Parenthood’s lot at the corner of Central Ave and 7th Street, nor their 8th Street lot. Also note: Please bring your own chair.
Naples
Spring Campaign Kick-off Event Wednesday, March 5, 12 noon – 1:00 p.m., on the public sidewalk outside Planned Parenthood, 1425 Creech Road, Naples. The Naples event will feature talks with Ramona Trevino, a former Planned Parenthood manager, and Scott Baier, CEO of Community Pregnancy Clinics.
Meet & Greet with Shawn Carney Wednesday, April 2, 12 noon – 1:00 p.m. Shawn Carney is the CEO of 40 Days for Life and leader of the first-ever 40 Days for Life campaign in Texas in 2004.
Join others in praying for an end to abortion from March 5 through April 13 in the Diocese of Venice. This peaceful prayer movement needs you and your Church to join in praying for the unborn and families on the public sidewalk outside of Planned Parenthood. We need you now more than ever with the push to dispense the abortion pill and what is likely to be another push to pass extreme abortion measures onto the people of Florida.
