Much has been shared about defeating Amendment 4, the dangerous pro-abortion amendment which will appear on the Florida ballot this fall. All Catholics, and indeed, all Floridians, are encouraged to VOTE NO on Amendment 4. (For more information about Amendment 4, please click here.)
Please note, however, that there is another critical amendment that will appear on the ballot this fall.
Amendment 3 proposes the legalization of the recreational use of marijuana in Florida. The Florida Bishops issued a statement, which can be found here (or in Spanish) encouraging all Floridians to VOTE NO on this amendment. The statement points out that voting no on Amendment 3 is critical to prevent increased use of and addiction to marijuana, avoid diverse health outcomes, and adhere to the Church’s teaching regarding the use of drugs: “Their use, except on strictly therapeutic grounds, is a grave offense” (CCC 2291).
